Mutu Joins the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC)
May 7, 2026

Mutu has officially joined the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) network as a recognised sustainable supplier. For us, this is an important step forward and reflects the increasing focus the infrastructure sector is placing on resource efficiency, reuse, and better visibility of materials and equipment across projects.
Mutu was originally developed to solve a fairly practical operational problem. Across construction and infrastructure businesses, large amounts of materials, fleet, plant, tools, and equipment already exist within organisations, but they are often difficult for teams to see, track, or access across multiple sites and projects. This lack of visibility frequently leads to unnecessary procurement, underutilised assets, duplicated purchases, and avoidable waste being sent to landfill.
The platform gives contractors a way to create a live digital inventory of resources across their business and allows teams to transfer, share, and reuse resources internally between projects before new purchases are made.
While the sustainability benefits of this are important, the primary driver for many organisations is operational efficiency and cost reduction. Reduced procurement spend, reduced disposal costs, improved utilisation of owned assets, and improved reporting are typically where businesses see the strongest immediate value.
As the industry continues to mature around sustainability reporting and carbon reduction, there is also growing recognition that practical systems and accurate data are critical. Measuring reuse, diversion, and resource efficiency becomes difficult without having clear visibility of what is happening operationally across projects.
ISC Credits
Mutu has also been assessed by ISC and approved as supporting a number of ISC IS Rating Scheme credits relating to:
- Resource recovery and material reuse
- Waste reduction and diversion from landfill
- Circular economy initiatives
- Improved resource efficiency and tracking
- Sustainability reporting and evidence collection
One of the key areas where Mutu supports infrastructure projects is through the ability to generate auditable reporting around resource movement, reuse outcomes, procurement savings, and landfill diversion. This helps provide projects with clearer evidence and documentation to support sustainability outcomes being targeted within IS ratings.
As more infrastructure projects across New Zealand and Australia place greater emphasis on measurable sustainability performance, tools that support both operational efficiency and credible reporting are becoming increasingly important.
We’re looking forward to continuing to work with contractors, councils, and infrastructure organisations across the sector as this space continues to evolve.
